Lucile Goodson Graves, 79, of Winterset died of a respiratory ailment Nov. 16, 1998, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Jon Gaul officiating. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with the family receiving friends from 7-8 p.m. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery.

Lucile Graves was born Nov. 17, 1918, in Van Meter to Marion and Florence (Smith) Goodson. She married Robert D. Graves on March 18, 1944, in Winterset. She had lived in Winterset since 1940. She previously had lived in Van Meter.

Lucile was a retired supervisor for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Des Moines. She also was a life member of the Hawkeye Chapter Telephone Pioneers of America, a member of the Madison County Historical Society Board, Madison County Covered Bridge Preservation Asso., Current Topic Federated Women's Club, Studious Moderns Club, Madison County Antique Asso., New Hope Christian Union Church in Madison County, and a charter member of the Madison County Foundation for Environmental Education.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother.

She is survived by one son, Gerald M. Graves (wife Nancy) of Van Meter; two brothers, George E. Goodson of Van Meter and John H. Goodson (wife Ruth) of Kansas City, Mo.; and one sister, Myrtle Cuckie (husband George) of Humboldt.
