Services for Robert Dail Graves, 63, Wintersest, who died Jan. 3, 1984 at his farm in Lincoln township, were held Friday, Jan. 6 at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Byron Ayers officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born Apr. 10, 1920 in Lincoln township, he was the son of Marion Rufus and Irma G. Evans Graves. He spent most of his life as a farmer and was a member of the New Hope Ord Christian Union Church.

He was a life member of the Madison County Historical Society, charter member of the Madison County Foundation for Enironmental Education, a charter member of the Des Moines Botanical Center, a member of the State Historical Society, and vaious local farm organizations.

He married Lucile Goodson on Mar. 18, 1944 at Winterset. Survivors include his wife; a son, Gerald M. Graves and wife Nancy of rural Van Meter; and three sisters, Helen G. Graves of Route 3, Winterset, Zella M. Edwards of Route 1, Winterset, and Aileen E. Lee of Clarendon Hill, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
