George William Albert Jeffryes, a resident of Winterset for the past 20 years, died at his home here Monday, at the age of 72 years.
Mr. Jeffryes was the son of Frederick and Ellen Jeffryes, and was born in Mercer, Illinois. He came to Iowa with his parents, the family locating near Fontanelle and he spent his early life in that community.
He was married to Nora Hollingsworth on November 29, 1891. In 1912 he moved to Madison County, moving into Winterset four years later.
He is survived by his widow; two sons, Arthur and Floyd Jeffryes of Winterset; three brothers, Frank Jeffryes of Divide, Colorado, Roy Jeffryes of Greenfield and Robert Jeffryes of Fontanelle; and two sisters, Ella Morrison of St. Paul, Nebraska, and Minnie Brown of Fontanelle. One son Don Elbert Jeffryes, died in *anzac, France, while in the American service during the World War.
Funeral services were held from the Ramsey-Richards Funeral home Wednesday in charge of the Rev. H. L. Olmstead of the Church of Christ. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
