Morris W. Hiatt, Winterset

Morris W. Hiatt, 85, Winterset died of heart failure May 10, 1999, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, May 12) at 1:30 p.m. at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset with Dr. Bobby Dickerson officiating. Burial was at Peru Cemetery.

Morris was born April 12, 1914, to Bain R. and Mary (Bobert) Hiatt of Peru. He married Marcella Christensen on Aug. 23, 1941, in Princeton, Mo. He was self-employed as a mechanic for 57 years until retirement in 1986. Morris was a member of the First Christian Church in Winterset, the Madison County Sportsman's Club and a former Board member of the Boy Scouts.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife Marcella; two daughters, Esther Marie Cook of Montgomery, Ill., and Ruth Ann Kiddoo (husband Steve) of Winterset; four sons, Robert Lyle Hiatt (wife Joy) of Ridgecrest, Calif., Terry Wayne Hiatt (wife Terry Anna) of Humeston, Charles Bain Hiatt (wife Victoria) of Des Moines and Curtis Webster Hiatt (wife Christina) of Earlham; a sister-in-law, Cathrine Hiatt; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
