Mrs. Frances Roy, who has been a resident of Madison county for over 50 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Beeler, Friday, April 4th. Mrs. Roy had been in poor health for several months, and last fall moved to the home of her daughter, where she had since resided. She had been ill with diabetes and complications. Mrs. Roy was able to be up to her meals last Thursday, but became suddenly worse, and died about 5:30 o'clock the following afternoon.

Waynetown, Indiana, was the birthplace of the deceased, but she came here with her parents in 1874. On November 9, 1880, she was married to Douglas Roy, and they were the parents of six children; Mr. Roy and two children have preceded the mother in death: Mr. Roy died in 1924; James Thomas died in 1920, and Charles Willard, died in 1892, at the age of three years. The children surviving the mother are: Mrs. Beeler, of Winterset; Mrs. M. E. Burkhart, of Alamo, Texas; Mrs. Russell J. Grenard, of Pueblo, Colorado, and William Roy, of Des Moines.

Two brothers and a sister are also surviving Mrs. Roy: George W. Grenard, Wm. A. Grenard and Mrs. Lola Laramore, all living in Colorado, and seven grandchildren.

The Rev. H. L. Olmstead, pastor of the church of Christ, conducted the funeral services Sunday, April 6th, at 2:30 o'clock, at the church, and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Mrs. Frances E. Roy

Frances Ellen Grenard was born January 10, 1860, in Waynestown, Indiana. Early in her life her parents moved to Illinois, and from there to Madison county, Iowa, in 1874. From then on she lived here with the exception of a few years spent in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

On November 9, 1880, she was married to Douglas Roy, who preceded her in death October 25, 1924.

To this union were born six children: James Thomas, who died in 1920; Mrs. Charles Beeler, of Winterset; Charles Willard, who died in 1892 at the age of three years; Mrs. M. E. Burkhart, of Alamo, Texas; Mrs. Russell J. Grenard, of Pueblo, Colorado, and William Roy, of Des Moines. Besides her children she leaves two brothers, Geo. W. Grenard, and Wm. A. Grenard, and a sister, Mrs. Lola Laramore, all living in Colorado, and seven grandchildren.

She had been a member of the Church of Christ for many years and was a faithful attendant as long as her health permitted.

Services were held at the Church of Christ, at 2:30 o’clock, Sunday, April 6th, conducted by the Rev. H. L. Olmstead. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
