CHARLES BINNS Died Thursday

Charles B. Binns of Winterset, a retired Douglas township farmer and life-time resident of this county died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1970 at Memorial hospital here. He was 86 years of age.

Mr. Binns was born in Webster township Sept. 16, 1883, a son of Benjamin S. and Emma Kentfield Binns. His life was spent in farming. He had lived in Winterset since retiring.

He was married July 18, 1909 at Pueblo, Colo., to Emma Caroline Stone. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Binns was a member of the Worthington Methodist Church, and a 50-year member of the Masonic lodge in Winterset.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Doris Denton of Waukee, two sons, Eugene and Lenard Binns of Winterset, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He also leaves two brothers, Ray Binns of Winterset and John Binns of Greeley, Colo

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Ward Young of Earlham. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Obituary

Charles Benjamin Binns, son of Benjamin Shaw and Emma Kentfield Binns, was born September 16, 1883, in Webster Twp. of Madison County, Iowa. He passed away February 5, 1970 at Madison Manor in Winterset at the age of 86 years, 4 months and 19 days.

Charles Binns lived throughout his life in Madison county where he farmed in Douglas Township, moved to Winterset in 1946 and continued work on the farm until about 1963.

On July 18, 1909, he was united in marriage to Emma Caroline Stone at Pueblo, Colorado. To this union three children were born: Doris, Eugene and Lenard.

He was a member of the Worthington United Methodist church and a 50 year Mason in the Winterset Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, by three sisters and one brother.

He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter Doris Denton of Waukee; Eugene and Lenard Binns of Winterset; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers: Ray Binns of Winterset and John Binns of Greeley, Colorado; several nieces and nephews; and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 8, at 2:30 p.m. at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
