Sept. 11, 1957Mrs. Lillie E. Young, a resident of Madison County for 78 years, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 1957, at a Winterset nursing home. She was 80 years of age.
Mrs. Young was born near Oskaloosa on Feb. 12, 1877, daughter of Benjamin Shaw Binns and Emaline Kentfield Binns. When she was 2 years old, she came with her parents to Madison county, where the remainder of her life was spent.
She was married to Hugh A. Young on Oct. 31, 1895. They were parents of seven children. The husband and father died in 1945.
At an early age she became a member of the Webster Methodist Church.
She is survived by the seven children; Alfred Young of Earlham, Ralph Young of Afton, Chester Young of Macksburg, Clarence Young of Murray, and Hugh, Earl, and Howard Young and Mrs. Ruth Eivins, all of Winterset. She also leaves 45 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Eloise Hart of Truro, and four brothers, James, Charles and Ray Binns of Winterset, and John Binns of Greeley, Colo.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Richard Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Arthur Weed. Burial was made in Wight Cemetery.
