Death of Lydia Anne Kipp

Mrs. Lydia Anne Kipp died at the home of her son, Edwin Kipp, Friday, July 11th. She was 86 years of age at the time of her death. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 13th, at 2:30 o'clock, at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home on East Court avenue. The services were conducted by Rev. W. C. Porter. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

Mrs. Kipp was born at Burwick, Illinois, February 27, 1844. She was married on July 4, 1861, to William H. Kipp. He preceded her in death in 1895. Seven children were born to this union: Oscar, who died in 1922; Mrs. Sadie Clay, of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Hattie Jennings, of Chicago; Mrs. Edith Haymond, of St. Charles; Jerome Kipp, of Wymore, Nebraska; William H. Kipp, of Stockton, California, and Edwin Kipp, of Winterset. She is survived by two brother, Pedro Underwood, of Burwick, Illinois, and William Underwood, of Walla Walla, Washington.

Mr. and Mrs. Kipp came to this county in the early 70's. They settled in Penn township, later moving to a farm in Webster township. forty-five years ago they moved to the place west of town known as Kipp's Hollow.

In March, Mrs. Kipp was stricken with paralysis and had been at the home of her son, Edwin, since that time.

Mrs. Kipp, in addition to her children and brothers, is survived by 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
