ELLIS CRAWFORD Died on Sunday

Winterset Madisonian
June 28, 1950

Ellis Crawford, well known Madison County farmer died at his home Sunday evening, June 25, (1950) after an extended illness, at the age of 76. Mr. Crawford suffered a stroke over three years ago and he had been an invalid since that time.

A son of Joseph and Rebecca Phillips Crawford, he was born in Jackson township June 4, 1874, and that township had always been his home with the exception of five years, from 1907 to 1912 when he resided in Colorado.

Mr. Crawford was married to Miss Gertrude Binns in 1903 who died in 1908. In 1925, he was married to Miss Myrtle R. Anderson of Norbourne, Mo., and they have always resided on the Crawford farm in Jackson township where he died.

He joined the Webster Methodist church in 1894 and was an active member as long as his health permitted.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Crawford is survived by two sisters, and a brother, Mrs. Elizabeth Estell, and Miss Addie Crawford of Winterset, and Solomon P. Crawford of Jackson township. He also leaves a cousin, Mrs. Sarah McCleary of Davenport, who was raised in the Crawford home, as a sister, and three nephews and two nieces, Mrs. Amy Drake and Earl Crawford of Winterset and Mrs. Angie Beaman and George and Cash Crawford of Dexter.

The Rev. Glenn Parrott of the Winterset Methodist church conducted his funeral services at the Webster church Tuesday, June 27 at 2:30 o'clock and burial was made in the Roberts cemetery near there. Six great nephews served as pallbearers: Charles Crawford, Claude Beaman, John Drake and Irvin Hildebrand of this community. David Anderson of Carrolton, Mo., and Max Beverlin of Newton.
