Charley Jeffs, Winterset

Charley C. Jeffs, 89, of Winterset, died February 15, 1994 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Graveside services were held at the Peru Cemetery Feb. 18, 1994 with the Rev. Terri Elder officiating the ceremony.

He was born May 8, 1904 to Edwin Oscar and Frances (Cook) Jeffs. He was a lifetime resident of Madison County. He worked for the county as a mechanic and then operated the filling station in Peru until retiring. In 1984 he was the Grand Marshall of the Covered Bridge Parade in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.

Surviving relatives include one daughter, Laurel Hildebrand of Atlantic; one sister-in-law, Easter Mae Allen of Winterset; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
