A lifetime resident of Madison County, Ray Binns, died Thursday, January 22, 1976, at Memorial Hospital in Winterset at the age of 86. He was born in Madison County January 6, 1890.
The son of Benjamin S. Binns and Emmaline Kentfield Binns, Ray Binns was a resident of Winterset since 1968 where he resided at 420 East Green Street at the time of his death. He was engaged as a farmer during most of his life and retired in 1968. Mr. Binns was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church of Winterset.
The marriage of Ray Binns and Nettie Viola Fuson took place February 14, 1912 in Madison County. She survives her husband. Children surviving are Erma Lucas and Ted R. Binns of Bishop, California; Gerald R. Binns, Council Bluffs; Gertrude Thomas and Norma Binns of Des Moines.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 19 great grand children and one great great grandchild, and one brother John Binns of Greeley, Colorado. Mr. Binns was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters and one grandson.
Funeral services for Ray Binns were conducted Saturday, January 24, 1976 at 1:00 p.m. from First United Methodist Church of Winterset, the Rev. Paul Bousfield presiding. Burial was made at the Winterset Cemetery.
