Myrtle G. Silliman, Urbandale

Myrtle Gertrude Silliman, 94, died of congestive heart failure Aug. 30, 1999, at USA Care Center in Urbandale.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Robert Barrick officiating. Burial will be at Peru Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with the family present from 6-8-p.m.

Myrtle Silliman was born Aug. 1, 1905, in Madison County to George and Hattie (Williams) Lorentz. She married Alonzo Silliman on Feb. 16, 1927, in Des Moines. A homemaker, she spent most of her lifetime in Madison County. Myrtle was a member of the First Methodist Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a brother and a sister.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Silliman (wife Dianne) of Seffner, Fla., and Ron Silliman (wife Treasa) of Carlisle; three daughters, Mae Newton of Des Moines, Jo Bell of Omaha, Neb., and Phyllis Crandall (husband Ward) of Thermopolis, Wyo.; a daughter-in-law, Ellen Silliman of Winterset; one sister, Mildred Robinson of Winterset; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.
