Everett B. Pickens, Peru

Everett Berdean Pickens, 76, of Peru died of respiratory failure July 28, 1999, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 30, at Kale Funeral Home in Truro with the Rev. Dennis Shepherd officiating. Burial of the cremains will take place at Peru Cemetery at a later date.

Everett Pikens was born June 12, 1923, to Samuel and Zilpha (Corsbie) Pickens of St. Charles. A graduate of Peru High School, he was a bank accountant for Midland Financial, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League and the Peru United Methodist Church. Everett also was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a granddaughter and two grandsons.

He is survived by two daughters, Margo Kent (husband Martin) of Chariton and Roxanne Wilden (companion Jeff Stevens) of Atlantic; one sister, Frances Cleveland of Texarkana, Ark.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
