Martha Vera Grace Decker, 85, of Peru died from complications of a stroke on Aug. 14, 1996 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Aug. 17, 1996 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Pastor Sandy Mercer officiated and burial followed at the Peru Cemetery.

She was born in Peru Jan. 2, 1911 to Jake and Rosa (Hayden) Kirsch. She married Elmer Decker Aug. 20, 1926 in Indianola. She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Madison County.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son; four brothers; two sisters; one grandson; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

Surviving relatives include six sons, Dean Decker, Dale Decker and Everett Decker, all of Peru. Jim Decker, Joe Decker and Lee Decker, all of Lorimor; two daughters, Marie Porter of Osceola, and Lois Dillinger of Peru; two sisters, Nora Sheesley of Bentonville, Ark., and Darlene Dooley of Runnells; 23 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Peru United Methodist Church or the Madison County Health Trust.
