The community was shocked by the death this morning of Mrs. Henry Davis, wife of the well known restaurant man. Mrs. Davis was taken ill with influenza a few days ago and her recovery was considered doubtful from the start.

Mrs. Davis was one of Winterset's well known and much admired young women. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Hann.

The funeral will be held Friday afternoon.

Nella Hann was born Dec. 13, 1889 in Lincoln township, Madison county, Iowa, being the younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Hann, now residents of Winterset, and died after a brief illness of flu-pneumonia, at her home on East Jefferson street, Jan. 8, 1919, aged 29 years and 25 days.

Funeral services were conducted from her home by her pastor, Rev. Jackson Giddens of the First M. E. church assisted by her mother's pastor, Rev. E. L. Hosier of the Church of Christ. She was laid to rest in the Rock City cemetery.

She was united in marriage to Henry L. Davis of Winterset, June 3, 1914. To this union two children were born: a son, Melvin Lloyd, and a daughter, Jennie V., who died in infancy.

Uniting with the church in early girlhood, she lived not for self alone, but for the betterment of her fellowman. Imbued with the sturdy principles of Christian character, the purity of her life is a monument to her memory. In her home life, gentle yet firm, loving and beloved, by the sweet tenderness of her serene and unassuming ways, her maternal love made home home indeed.

Stricken down in the full strength of splendid young womanhood, her spirit faltered not. Perfect in her faith, with fearless and untroubled eyes, she turned her gaze on things eternal, and smilingly passed out into the Great Unknown. Her steadfast faith but makes our faith the stronger and we bow before the Master Mind, the working of whose ways we cannot understand. Our loss is but her gain.

She is survived by father, mother, aged grandmother, husband, son, five brothers, one sister, numerous uncles and aunts, many other relatives and a host of friends who mourn her early going. Her youngest brother, Forest M. Hann, is in active service somewhere in France.
