The Winterset Madisonian
Winterset, Iowa
September 1921

Caroline Bird Brinson was born in Holmes county, Ohio, Aug. 27, 1834 and passed away at her home in Winterset, Sept. 8, 1921, having reached the age of 87 years and 12 days.

She, with her parents, moved from Ohio to Illinois when quite young, and from Illinois, she came to Lee county, Iowa while yet in childhood. In 1850 she moved to Madison county, where she settled with her parents, near Peru.

On April 12, 1855 she was united in marriage to William Brinson, and to this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Mary E. Hircock of Winterset and Mrs. Sarah E. Hircock of Wichita, Kans.

In early life she united with the Church of Christ and continued in the faith until the day of her departure, always finding great joy in the hope that was so real. Twenty three years ago she became a resident of Winterset and with her companion, spent the remainder of her years here. During the past two years she gradually failed in strength due to the weight of years resting upon her.

She leaves to hold her in fond memory the aged companion, the two daughters and other more distant relatives, and a large circle of friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the Church of Christ on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 by Rev. N. C. Carpenter of Des Moines, assisted by the pastor of the local church.
