Blanche Tilp, Colorado

Blanche M. Tilp, 92, of Lakewood, Colo., died of heart failure Nov. 21, 1995, at the Westland Meridian Retirement Community. A memorial service will be held Jan. 5, 1996, at the Central Christian Church in Denver, Colo. Burial will be in the Peru Cemetery at a later date.

She was born May 24, 1903, to Edward D. and Margaret M. (Harrel) Schoenenberger near Lorimor. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1922 and Capitol City Commercial College in Des Moines in 1923. She married Paul C. Tilp of Peru in 1926. She worked with her husband and family in the Tilp General Store in Peru intil 1937 and operated a variety store in Gowrie from 1940-1950. She later moved to Colo. and worked with Dunton Realty Co. until retirement in 1973. She received the Minoru Yasui Community Volunteer Award in 1982.

Surviving relatives include a son, Paul and wife, Mary of Lakewood, Colo.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Central Christian Church in Denver.

Blanche M. Tilp, 94, of Lakewood, Co., died of heart failure on Nov. 21, 1995 at the Westland Meridian Retirement Community. Memorial services were held at the Central Christian Church in Denver, Co. on Jan. 5, 1996. Burial will be held at the Peru Cemetery on Monday, Sept. 16, 1996 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Joan White of the Peru United Methodist Church officiating.

She was born in Kasson to Edward and Margaret (Harrel) Schoenenberger on May 24, 1903. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1922 and Capitol City Commercial College in Des Moines in 1923. In 1926 she married Paul C. Tilp of Peru. She worked with her husband and his family in the Tilp General Store until 1937. Between 1940 and 1950 she helped to operate a variety store in Gowrie, and she later moved to Colorado and worked property management with the Dunton Realty Co. After retiring, she was an avid volunteer with the Presbyterian/St. Lukes Hospital Auxiliary and other senior groups. She received the Minouru Yasui Community Volunteer Award in 1982.

Surviving relatives include one son, Paul and wife Mary Tilp of Lakewood, Co.; two grandchildren, Adreyann of Lakewood, Co., and Andy of Tigard, Ore.; and two great-grandchildren.
