Gladys Bierma, Winterset

Gladys Verdie Bierma, 98, died at Bethesda Care Center on February 24, 1993. Funeral services were held Sat. Feb. 27 at Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Berggren of Long Lake, Minn. officiating. Burial was at Peru Cemetery.

Mrs. Bierma was born in Madison County on February 22, 1895, to Russell and Julia (Deardorf) Youmans. She married Henry A. Bierma on September 15, 1920, in Winterset. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident here, being a member of the Farm Bureau and Deer Creek Chapel.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother; three half sisters and two half brothers.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Bierman (Bierma) and wife, Marcia, of Denison, and Clyde Bierman (Bierma) and wife, Sherri, of Lorimor; one daughter, Dorothea Berggren and husband, Paul, of Long Lake, Minn.; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to the first United Methodist Church.
