Ruby Hircock, Peru

Ruby Arminta Hircock, 61, of Peru; died of complications of a stroke on Oct. 16, 1996 at Care Center North in Winterset. Funeral services were Oct. 19 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. The Rev. Bobby Dickerson officiated the services and burial was at the Peru Cemetery.

She was born in Winterset on Oct. 11 [1935] to Cresslie K. and Helen E. (Nellis) Gilleland. She was a 1953 graduate of Winterset High School. She married Billy Ray Hircock on June 30, 1957 in Winterset and together, the couple maintained the family farm in rural Madison County. She was a lifetime resident of Madison County and had been a waitress at Tim's Club Cafe in Winterset; a secretary at Banker's Life in Des Moines; and a machine operator at Custom Printing in DeSoto. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary; Farm Bureau, and the Winterset Bowling League.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.

Surviving relatives include one son, Kevin W. Hircock and wife Janet of Adel; one daughter, Roxanne L. Bates and husband Jerry of Winterset; four brothers, Marvin Gilleland of Elston, Duane Gilleland of Winterset, Norman Gilleland of Sunnyside, Wash., and Larry Gilleland of Lacona; four grandchildren, Cody, Molly and Taylor Hircock, and Brandon Bates.
