Funeral services for Martha M. Murrell, 88, were held at Collins Funeral Home Sat., March 9 with the Rev. Leonard Leslie officiating. She died March 7 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines.
Born in Montgomery County to Jobe Scott and Minnie (Copeland) Wilson on September 27, 1902, she moved to Winterset in 1918. She married Ed Murrell on June 14, 1924 in Winterset. She was a homemaker, a member of First Christian Church and the Buffalo Gals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four sisters.
Surviving are a son, Rex Edward Murrell of Winterset; a step-son, Russ Wilson of Zion; three brothers, Russell Wilson and Ted Wilson, both of Bucklin, Mo., and Gordon Wilson of Winterset; two sisters, Madge Nelson of Stayton, Ore. and Cora Beem of Winterset; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Burial was at Barney Cemetery in Madison county. Memorials may be made to the family.
________________________Coordinator's note: There is some dispute about her middle name, listed on the internet as either "Madeline" or "Modlin". Although no official records have been found, discussions between this Coordinator and the deceased's relatives have led to the conclusion that "Modlin" is correct.
