A. G. Barton, son of Asur and Sarah (Hare) Barton, was born in Henry county, Iowa, July 9, 1871, and died at the Iowa City hospital December 19, 1928, aged 57 years, 8 months and 7 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Belle Osbun, of Salem, Iowa, September 3, 1896, who preceded him in death on September 15, 1917. To this union three children were born, Gladys Marie, Coral Anna and Robert Osborn. On August 30th he was again united in marriage to Miss Eva Mosher, of Salem. He leaves a widow, two brothers and three sisters, Linn, Edwin and Mrs. Charles Werts, of Salem, Mrs. Harris Tyner, of New London, and Mrs. Harry McNichols, of Huren, South Dakota, and two daughters, Mrs. John Cox, of Paton, and Mrs. Rex, Johnson of St. Charles, and one son, Robert, who was with him at the time of his death.

Funeral services were held here in the M. E. church last Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. F. G. Barnes, and his remains were laid to rest in the St. Charles cemetery, west of Iowa, by the side of his first wife. Mr. Barton formerly lived here and was at one time manager of the St. Charles telephone switch board and also telephone lines.
