Sven C. Blomquist was born on March 27th, 1869 in Jonkoping, Sweden. He passed away, August 11th, 1954 in Winterset, at the age of 85 years, four months and 15 days.
Sven was the oldest of four sons born to Justine A. and Anna Christina Blomquist. He was baptized into the Swedish Lutheran Church.
He came to the United States of America in the year 1880 at the age of 11 years, bringing with him a younger brother, August. The boys joined their mother in Des Moines, Iowa, later moving with her to Madison County, near Earlham. Here he was to spend his entire life.
He was married to Mary A. Wallace November 19, 1919. No children were born to this union but they raised to manhood, a nephew, Richard R. Dougherty/Daugherty.
Sven served many years as a trustee on the Penn Township Board. He is widely rememgered for his work as a steam thresherman. He has been a continous member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows since 1920.
His surviving relatives are his wife, Mary, nephew Richard Daugherty and Richard's immediate family; his two brothers, David Blomquist of Puyallup, Washington; Edward A. Anderson of Earlham; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and August Blomquist.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from Early Chapel church for Sven C. Blomquist, a well known and long time resident of Penn township.
Mr. Blomquist died last Wednesday, Aug. 11, while a patient at Madison County Memorial hospital. He was 85 years of age.
The son of Justin A. and Anna Blomquist, he was born in Jonkoping, Sweden on March 27, 1869. At the age of 11, he and his brothers emigrated to America, where they joined their mother who was living in Des Moines.
Soon after this reunion, the mother and her sons moved to Madison county, where Mr. Blomquist continued to live the remainder of his life.
He served for many years as a Penn township trustee, and was a member of the Earlham Odd Fellows lodge since 1920. For many years, Mr. Blomquist was well known in the Earlham community as a steam thresherman.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Wallace; two brothers, David Blomquist of Washington state, and Edward A. Anderson of Earlham; and a nephew, Richard Daugherty, who was raised in the Blomquist home.
Officiating at the services last Saturday was the Rev. Loren E. Emerson, pastor of the Earlham Church of Christ. Burial was in the Penn Center cemetery.
