Death of Horace J. Mapes

Horace James Mapes died at this home in Grand River township on December 22, after a short illness. His improvement seemed satisfactory but a sudden relapse culminated in pneumonia, with attendant complications. He was well known in and near Macksburg.

Funeral services were held on Friday morning at his home near Macksburg, with burial in Winterset Cemetery.
