Page 1Death of Mrs. Hattie Grout
Word was received here last week of the death of Mrs. Hattie Grout, on Friday, August 16th, at her home in Pasadena, California. Mrs. Grout was a sister of Fred Mardis, of Winterset, and Mrs. Charles Merrill of Des Moines.
The deceased had been ill for six months with tuberculosis, and her condition gradually grew worse.
Prior to fifteen years ago Mrs. Grout had always made her home in Winterset. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Mardis, and was a teacher for several years in the North Ward school. Her marriage to Charles Tidrick took place about 35 years ago. For many years they resided in the house on the corner of West Eighth Avenue and Jefferson street, now owned by Charles Handel. After Mr. Tidrick's death, she was married fifteen years ago to Fred Grout. They left Winterset and lived for eight years in North Dakota. Following this they moved to Pasadena, where they have since lived.
Besides her brother and sister, Mrs. Grout leaves her husband and two sons, Glen and William Tidrick, of Pasadena. Funeral services were held at Pasadena, Sunday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, and burial was made there.
