Services for Herbert W. Callison, 81, Winterset, who died Dec. 22 (1987),at the Bethesda Care Center were he resided, were held Saturday, Dec. 26, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Maurice J. Schulte officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Winterset on Oct. 20, 1906, he was the son of William and Pearl Starr Callison. He was a retired farmer and a former county supervisor, serving two terms.

Mr. Callison was a lifelong resident of the county and a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He was a member and served as president of the Rotary Club; was a past member of the Lions Club and fourth degree Knights of Columbus, Council 5032 of Indianola; a founder, president, officer and director of the Iowa Good Roads Association; served as civil defense coordinator for Madison County; served two terms on the county board of education; was an active memer of the Republican Party; and graduated from the Coyne Electrical School in Chicago in 1930.

He was married to the former Ella Cecelia Husted on June 26, 1933 at St. Joseph's. She survives along with a son, Lt. Col. James C. Callison of Fayetteville, N.C.; daughters, Frances E. Stevens of Winterset and Karen D. Mueller of St. Ansgar; a sister, Opal Moore of Bradenton, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother.
