Services for Beulah Goeldner, 79, prominent and long-time resident of Earlham, who died Saturday, November 5, (1983), of a heart ailment at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, were held at the Earlham United Methodist Church Tuesday. Burial was at the Earlham Cemetery.

Mrs. Goeldner and her husband, Les, were queen and king of the Madison County Covered Bridge Festival this year.

Born in Page County, Mrs. Goeldner was a resident of Earlham for 49 years. a retired teacher, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Earlham Garden Club and the Cosmopolitan Club.

Survivors besides her husband are sons, Charles of Boulder, Colo., and Allen of Collegeville, Penn.; a daughter Marilyn Goeldner of Boone, a brother, Boyd Bohrer of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Clarice Booth, of Zellwood, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

Beulah A. Goeldner was born near Shambaugh in Page County, Iowa, February 18, 1904. Her parents were Charles E. and Florence Hale Bohrer. She graduated from Clarinda High School in 1922 and later from the University of Iowa in 1928, majoring in elementary education. Her teaching career covered 33 1/2 years, the last 29 of which were in Earlham.

On December 29, 1929, she and Leslie R. Goeldner were married and started their home at Fort Dodge, Iowa. They observed their fiftieth anniversary December 29, 1979. They were the parents of three children; Marilyn of Boone, Charles of Boulder, Colorado and Allen of Collegeville, Pennsylvania. In 1932 they moved from Fort Dodge to Sheffield, Iowa and to Earlham in 1934.

Beulah was a member of the Earlham United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, the Garden Club and the Cosmopolitan Club. Among her hobbies were birds, flowers and crafts. Her greatest joy was the love she had for her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Les; her children; five grandchildren; a brother, Boyd Bohrer of Lakewood, Colorado; and a sister, Clarice Booth of Zellwood, Florida.

Services were held November 8, 1983 at the Earlham United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian T. Miller, minister. Music was provided by Gretchen Brittain, organist. Pallbearers were Marlin Brittain, John Williamson, Wayne Swallow, Beryl Kenworthy, LeRoy Fuller, Kenny Summy. Interment was at Earlham Cemetery, Earlham, Iowa.
