Phillip J. Smith, 64, of Winterset died Dec. 20, 2005, at Doctors Renaissance Hospital in Pharr, Texas.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Agent Funeral Chapel in Muldrow, Okla.
Burial was at Cottonwood Cemetery, also in Muldrow.
Phillip Smith was born Nov. 28, 1943, in West Des Moines to Harold and Edna (Powell) Smith and was raised in the Peru area by his uncle, Nelson Simmerman, and his aunt, Christina (Simmerman) Mills. During his career, Phillip had been employed as a heavy equipment operator, truck driver and farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his uncle, Nelson Simmerman; and a sister, Donna Jean Smith.
He is survived by his companion, Isabel Smith; one daughter, Sharyl Coffman of Winterset; two sons, Richard Smith of Atlantic and Bryan Smith of Panora; five sisters, Judy Hensen of Decatur, Texas, Martha Watson and Connie Aich, both of Muskogee, Okla., Cathy Raymond of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Debra Lindsay of Fort Gibson, Okla.; three brothers, Gailen “Tom” Smith of Muldrow, Okla., Rick Smith of Milwaukee, Wis., and Randy Smith of Fort Smith, Ark.; his aunt, Christina (Simmerman) Mills of Osceola; and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
