Page 1Death of Ezra Read
Word was received here last week of the death of Ezra Read of Clay Center, Nebraska. Mr. Read was the youngest of nine children. He was the son of John Read. John Read and his family came here from England in the fifties. The family came directly to Madison county and settled on the farm now occupied by Glenn Jickling.
Mr. Read was married to Miss Barbara Lucart. To this union were born three children, two of whom survive him, Mrs. Anna Hassenacher and Lester Read. He was past seventy at the time of his death. Mrs. Hattie Bowlsby of Winterset, is a niece of Mr. Read.
