BLAIR YOUNG, Winterset

Graveside services for Blair Young, 75, Winterset, who died Feb. 25, 1985, at the Madison County Hospital, were held Feb. 28 at the Winterset Cemetery with the Rev. Newton Coughenour officiating. Masonic rites were also held.

Mr. Young was born in Winterset Dec. 26, 1909, the son of Myles and Clara Snyder Young Jr. He was a third generation Winterset resident, having lived here all his life with the exception of his years attending Simpson College and the Academy of Fine Arts in Chicago.

He was co-owner of M. Young and Co. with his brother, Myles Young III

Mr. Young was married to Imogene Martin Dec. 18, 1932 at the Central Presbyterian Church in Des Moines and the couple lived all their married life at 607 N. First Street.

He is survived by sons, Noel and wife Anne of Boulder, Colo., and Col. Robert and wife Dixie of Omaha; his brother Myles of Winterset; six grandchildren, Sgt. Barry Young, Brett, Sherry and Nahan Young, Erica Amafitano and Lynne Medvitz; and a great grandson, Jed Jenkins.

Although Mr Young had been an active member of M. Young and Co., he enjoyed drawing for the First United Presbyterian Church and for the bridge plate designs for the county antique association. He was an honorary member of the antique association; a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, being a 32-degree Mason and Shriner; a life member of the county historical society and a member of the First United Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
