April 1930LAST RITES FOR MR. JOHN BENSON
Had Been Resident of Earlham Since Coming From Sweden in 1861
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Presbyterian church for Mr. John Benson, the service being conducted by the Rev. Peter Bock. Interment was in Earlham Cemetery. the following brief life biography was read:
John Benson was born in Holmstead, Sweden, March 8th, 1861. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 31 coming to Earlham where he resided until the time of his death.
In 1889 he was united in marriage to Alma Swanson and to this union was born one daughter.
Mr. Benson was confirmed when a young boy in the Lutheran church in Sweden. He was industrious and a good citizen.
For a number of years Mr. Benson had been in poor health and passed away Tuesday afternoon April 8 th, 1930 at the age of 69 years and one month.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Carl Heggen, of Des Moines, besides many friends.
