Mrs. Russell Virginia Mae Wettering

Mrs. Russell Mae Wettering, 80, of Morris and formerly of Hawkeye, Iowa, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, at Walnut Grove Healthcare Center, Morris Il.

Born Jan. 24, 1917, in Winterset Iowa, she was the daughter of Charles and Georgia (Emily Parker) Johnson. Educated in schools of Winterset, Iowa she graduated from Winterset High School with the class of 1935.

On April 4, 1936, she married Russell E. Wettering in Waterloo, Iowa. She was employed as a nurses aid at Fayette County Nursing Home in Fayette County, Iowa, for 15 years. In July 1985 she moved to Morris.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hawkeye, Iowa, an Order of the Eastern Star in Hawkeye, Iowa.

Surviving are three sons, Fred Wettering, Robert (Sherry) Wettering, and John (Nancy) Wettering, all of Morris ; four grand-children, six great-grand-children, two step-grand-children, and four step-great-grand-children.

Preceding her in death were her husband on Dec. 15, 1983, three sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at the U. C. Davis and Sons Funeral Home Ltd., with the Rev. Sandra Harbour officating. Visttation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Hawkeye Cemetery in Hawkeye, Iowa, with the Rev. Roger White officating.

Preferred forms of remembrance are memorial gifts to the Grundy Community Hospice.
