Benjamin Franklin Beeson, son of Benjamin Franklin and Mary E. Beeson, was born March 5, 1891 on a farm near Van Meter in Dallas County, Iowa, and passed away on Tuesday morning August 22, 1967 at the Memorial hospital in Winterset at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 17 days.
On January 30, 1934 he was united in marriage to Anita Alma Willison. To this union twin daughters were born-Bernice Ruth, who survives, and Beverly Anita who never saw the light of day.
He enjoyed the occupation of farming, working all his life in Dallas and Madison counties. His remaining years were spent in Earlham after ill health forced his retirement.
A veteran of World War I he enjoyed participating in the American Legion, holding the post of First Vice Commander at the time of his death.
He was a member of the Earlham Methodist church and enjoyed working in it as long as his health permitted. He earlier helped with the building of the Penn Center church, and was superintendent of Sunday School there. He was on the committee to help remodel the Earlham Methodist church.
Ben was a member and Past Master of Madison Lodge No. 568 A.F. & A. M. Earlham, Iowa. He was a person who enjoyed people and liked to visit with his friends, both old and young.
Ben was the last of a family of twelve children. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, sisters, brothers, and daughter Beverly. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Bernice Gard; son-in-law, Charles Gard; grandson Steven Gard and a number of nieces and nephews.
