Indianola Man Is Fatally Injured on R. R. Crossing

F. L. Loper, of Indianola, father of Miss Juanita Loper, who is one of the English teachers of the Winterset high school, died last Friday night, following a crash between a south bound Burlington gasoline coach and their sedan, at the crossing on No. 2 at Martensdale. Mr. and Mrs. Loper had brought their daughter here, to get her located for her year's work. Miss Loper secured a room at the T. E. Garrett residence and her parents started on their return trip.

It is said that the car stalled on the tracks and the train struck the rear of the machine and carried it down the track for ten or fifteen feet. The injured couple was taken on the train to Osceola, where Mr. Loper died that night at ten o'clock, from the injuries. Mrs. Loper is still in the Osceola hospital, in a critical condition, though doctors stated the first of the week that she had a chance to recover.

The Rev. and Mrs. W. C. Porter took Miss Loper to Osceola Friday evening, shortly after the news of the accident was received here. Funeral services for Mr. Loper were held Tuesday afternoon, September 3d, at Indianola. Miss Loper will not take up her school duties for several weeks.
