Former resident Killed In Alaska

John Bedwell, nephew of Mrs. Richard Osborn, was killed accidentally on Friday, March 24, at his home in Anchorage, Alaska. Mr. Bedwell, 26, was cleaning his gun when it discharged and he was shot.

John was born at Iowa City and later moved with his family to a home near Winterset. The family then moved to Michigan where he received his education. Later they moved to Earlham where John completed his education. He entered the service in 1963 and served in Alaska. After his discharge from the service last fall, he had continued to make his home in Alaska. In 1966 he was married to Mary Fox of Webster City.

Survivors include his wife, father, Gerald Bedwell of Des Moines; mother, Mrs. Mildred Peterson Wheeler of Santa Monica, California; two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held in Alaska, then the body was returned to Webster city where final rites were conducted on Thursday, March 30.
