E. A. Bechtel Funeral Wednesday Afternoon

Funeral services were held for Emory A. Bechtel at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Arthur Henry was in charge of the services. Burial was made in the Earlham Cemetery.

Mr. Bechtel was found in an unconscious condition Saturday night on the parking on the north side of the tennis court. Dr. H. E. Carver was called about 9:30 p.m. and upon examination called the ambulance and had him removed to his home. Bechtel had not regained consciousness Sunday forenoon when he was taken to the veterans hospital in Des Moines where he died about seven o'clock that evening.

County Coroner Eggleston held an inquest Tuesday and Wednesday trying to determine possible circumstances surrounding the cause of his death.

Information gained from the sheriff's office late Wednesday afternoon revealed that the verdict of the coroners jury bound Earl Cozard and A. D. Cron to the grand jury on a recommended charge of manslaughter. In evidence brought out in the investigation it was found that a fight between the men was involved and that Bechtel's head struck the curbing. Cozad and Cron have been taken into custody. Bond has not been set at this time.
