James Eckstein, Winterset

James Wilbur Eckstein, 71, of Winterset died June 14, 2005, at Westbridge Care Center in Winterset.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 17, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with Pastor Terry Kerr officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at Collins with the family present from 7-8 p.m. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Webster Township, Madison County.

Jim Eckstein was born Sept. 9, 1933, in Madison County to Lawrence Ray and Mary Violet (Grout) Eckstein. On June 10, 1956, he married Darlene Maxine Osborn at the Oak Grove parsonage in Madison County. Jim, a lifetime resident of Madison County, had been a farmer all his life. He also was a sexton in Webster and Grand River townships.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Eckstein and infant Robert Eugene Eckstein.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene, of Winterset; on son, Dwight Eckstein of Peru; two daughters, Linda Sorenson of Urbandale and Jeanie Stephens of Winterset; two brothers, Earl Eckstein of Albuquerque, N.M., and Russell Eckstein of Winterset; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
