Francis "Wayne" Lathrum, 67, of the 5900 block of Northwest 54th Court, Johnston, died of complications of cancer Saturday at Hospice Kavanagh House. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Parish Church in St. Charles, with burial at the church cemetery.

Mr. Lathrum was born in St. Charles and had lived in Johnston since 1968. He had worked for Des Moines Lumber Co. before retiring and was an Army veteran. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, three daughers, Deb Shaw of Story City, Dana Ohnemus of Urbandale and Darci Hartman of Johnston; a sister, Doris downs of St. Charles; and three brothers, Donald of Gardner, Kan., and David and Johnnie, both of St. Charles; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Westover Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the John Stoddard Cancer Center or the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
