Joan Monaghan, 81, passed away Friday, November 12 at Winterset Care Center South. Funeral services will beheld 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winterset. Burial will be in the St. Patrick's Cemetery, Irish Settlement in Madison County.

Joan was born on October 3, 1923 to John F. and Mary Jane (McKinley) Monaghan. She was a 1941 graduate of Winterset High School. She was a retired office manager from Mid-America Energy Co. at the Winterset office. She was a member of the Studious Moderns, Thursday Guild, American Legion Auxiliary, The Golden Girls, St. Joseph's Alter Society, and the St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Joan is survived by her sister-in-law, Katherine Monaghan of Chicago, Il; and two nieces, Mary Marguerite Monaghan of San Ramon, Ca and K. Ann McAlexander of Fishers, In.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John F. and Mary Jane Monaghan; two brothers, John F. Monaghan Jr. and William J. Monaghan.
