Page 4Death of Burr Eli Gilbert
St. Charles, September 2. Special - Burr Eli Gilbert, who had been a resident of the St. Charles and Truro neighborhoods for the past thirty years, died at his home northwest of St. Charles, Thursday, August 29th, at the age of 80 years. Mr. Gilbert was born July 14, 1849, near Roweville, Illinois, and here he was married to Miss Sarah O'Neal. The couple moved to a farm in Ohio township that was known as the R. J. Foster farm, but is now known as the J. E. Worthing farm. Two children were born to this union, but Mrs. Gilbert died about thirty years ago.
On February 27, 1903, he was married to Mrs. Emma Coltraine, and they lived in Truro a while before moving (to) St. Charles, where they have since lived.
The Rev. F. G. Barnes conducted the funeral services at the Methodist church in St. Charles, Saturday, August 31st, at 11 o'clock, and his body was taken to Roseville, Illinois, for burial.
