LENARD E. BINNS, Winterset

Lenard E. Binns, 84, of Winterset died Aug. 10, 2000, of a heart attack at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Pastor Sandy Smith officiating. Visitation was held Monday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset where the family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Military graveside services were held by American Legion Post No. 184 and V.F.W. Post No. 8142, Winterset, with burial at Winterset Cemetery.

Lenard Binns was born Jan. 14, 1916, in Madison County to Charles and Caroline (Stone) Binns. He married Margaret Dorrell on Dec. 31, 1946 in Madison County. He was a retired farmer and woodworker. He served in the Army during World War 11 and was a V.F.W. member.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret, and a brother, Eugene Binns.

He is survived by two sons, Gary Binns of Cedar Hill, Texas, and Denny Binns (wife Kathy) of Winterset; two daughters, Diane Millsap (husband Steve) of Greenfield and Kathy Jordan (husband Dennis) of Prole; a sister, Doris Giles of Waukee; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
