RALPH W. WILLIAMS, Winterset

Ralph Wallace Williams, 70, of Winterset died of asphyxiation Oct. 1, 1998 at his home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset with the Rev. Dr. Mary Pope officiating. Burial was at Union Chapel Cemetery in Madison County.

Ralph Williams was born Jan. 27, 1928, in Madison County to John Taylor and Helen (Hoeness) Williams. He was a 1945 graduate of Winterset High School. He married Viola Powell on Dec. 9, 1953, at Pitzer. A lifetime resident of Madison County, he was a farmer and had been a school bus driver for the Winterset Community School District for 19 years. Ralph also was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a former member of the Pitzer United Presbyterian Church, where he had been an elder and Sunday School superintendent, and a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset. In his spare time, Ralph restored cars and trucks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister and a brother-in-law.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Richard Williams of Winterset and John Williams(wife Debbie) of Maxwell; one sister Katherine Weber of Philadelphia, Pa.; and one grandson.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
