Bonnie Beattie, 69, of Des Moines, formerly of Winterset, died of cancer Nov. 15, 1996 at the Hospice Kavanaugh House in Des Moines. The body was cremated and memorial services will be at a later date. Private burial of the cremains will be at the Winterset Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 3, 1927 in Winterset to Arthur R. and Hattie A. (Rhodes) Strong. She married George K. Beattie on Nov. 29, 1945 in Winterset. She was a retired nurse's aide at Oak Hill Hospital in Joplin, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband. Surviving relatives include one son, Robert Beattie of West Des Moines; three daughters, Christine Balius of West Des Moines, Gerrie Davis of Des Moines, and Mary Robinson of Farmington, Mo.; three sisters, Mary Jane Strong, Betty Macumber, both of Winterset, and Ethelee Dixon of Philmont, N.Y.; two brothers, Jack Strong and Steve Strong, both of Omaha, Nebr.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
