Page 1Death of James McCullough
James H. McCullough, who became ill about a week ago, died at his home in the east part of town, Monday, April 2. He was over 78 years of age. He came to this county in 1870, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archibald McCullough, in a covered wagon. Since that time he has lived continuously in Madison and Adair counties.
On January 1, 1884, he married Nettie L. Ayers of Greenfield. She died about ten years ago, but two children survive them. Lee, of Springville, and Maud of Winterset. He is also survived by a grandchild, a niece, Mrs. Harry Black and five nephews. Three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth McDonald, Mrs. Mary Smiley and Mrs. Worth Campbell, and a brother, Robert McCullough, have preceded him in death.
Rev. W. C. Porter conducted the funeral services at the McCullough home, Wednesday, April 4, and burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

James Henry McCollough, the fifth child of Archibald and Mary Atkinson McCollough, was born in Washington county, Pennsylvania, November 1, 1849, and passed away April 2, 1928, at the age of 78 years 5 months and 1 day.
In the spring of 1870 his parents and family came to Iowa in a covered wagon locating in this county. Practically his entire life was spent in Iowa in Madison and Adair counties.
On January 1, 1884, he married Nettie L. Ayers, of Greenfield, Adair county, Iowa, who preceded him in death nearly ten years ago. To this union two children were born Lee, of Springville, Iowa and Maud of this place.
He has left surviving his two children and one grandchild, also his niece, Mrs. Harry Black, of Winterset and also five nephews; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth McDonald, Mrs. Mary Smiley and Mrs. Worth Campbell and a brother, Robert McCollough have preceded him in death.
Rev. W. C. Porter conducted the funeral services at the McCollough home Wednesday afternoon, April 4 and burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.
