Merlin L. Peacock, 73, of Urbandale, died of congestive heart failure Dec. 12, 1996 at his residence. Funeral services were Dec. 16 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Pastor John Shaull officiated the services and burial was at the Winterset Cemetery. Military graveside services were provided.

He was born in Greenfield on March 12, 1923 to Lawrence and Lenore Frances (Martin) Peacock. He married Elizabeth Irene Dorrell on July 27, 1946. He was a 1942 graduate of Winterset High School. He was a retired salesman of agricultural products and was a lifetime resident of Madison County prior to moving to Des Moines in the early 1950s. He had served in the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers; and one sister.

Surviving relatives include one brother, Jack Estes of Leconia, N.H.; and two sisters, Martha Mae Berch of Winterset, and Jeannette Anthony of Omaha, Nebr.
