Mike Harper, 67, of St. Charles, died December 27, 1993 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at Collins Funeral Home Fri. Dec. 31, 1993 with the Rev. Bob Epperson officiating. Burial will be at the Winterset Cemetery with Military Graveside Services.

He was born July 5, 1926 in Barney to Maynard Leo and Sara Phyllis (Foley) Harper. He married Betty Darlene Searl June 18, 1947 in St. Mary's. He was a retired rubber worker for Firestone Tire and Rubber in Des Moines. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was also a member of the St. Charles Lion's Club; Rolling Wheels Camping Club; Des Moines Lapidary Society (rock club); Suzy Q Square Dance Club; V.F.W. Post 8142; the Hillbilly Band and was a WWII veteran with the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surving relatives include his wife; one son, Michael Harper and wife Mary of Grimes; two daughters, Linda Downs and husband Frank of Boone; Marcia Beeler and husband Tim of Winterset; two brothers, Maynard Harper of Peru, Bill Harper of Pleasanton; mother-in-law, Florence Searl of Winterset; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
