Page 1Death of Mrs. Mary Tidrick
Madison county lost another of her pioneer settlers, Thursday, May 31, when Mrs. Mary A. Tidrick died, at her home, at the west end of Court avenue, at the age of 87 years. Mrs. Tidrick was only ill for a few days, but her children, and some of her grandchildren returned to Winterset to be with her during this last illness.
Mrs. Tidrick, who was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George P. Fisher, was born in Bridgewater, in Beaver county, Pennsylvania on February 24, 1841. Her father died when she was a very small child and two years later her mother was married to Charles Rodenbaugh. Her mother died when she was nine years old and she came to Dallas county, with her step-parents in 1856. She was married to Miller R. Tidrick, July 16, 1862, and they made their home in Winterset since that time. They were both active in the social life of the town, and were two strong members of the Presbyterian church. For more than sixty years she has been a faithful member, attending regularly until two weeks before her death. Mr. Tidrick died in 1914 and since that time, Mrs. Tidrick has resided in the old home, with her daughter, Mrs. S. A. Hays and family.
Besides her daughter, Mrs. Hays, Mrs. Tidrick leaves another daughter, Mrs. Jennie Moore of Dayton, Ohio, and two sons, Harry of Winterset, and Fred of Denver, Colorado. George Tedrick, the youngest, died in infancy, Charles died in 1908, and Mrs. Jessie Terrill in 1919.
The Rev. Paul M. Fowler conducted the funeral services in the home, Saturday afternoon, June 2, at two o'clock, and interment was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Mary A. Tidrick
Mary Ann Fisher, daughter of George P. and Rebecca Stewart Fisher, was born in Bridgewater, Beaver county, Pennsylvania, on February 24, 1841. Her father died when she was a very small child and two years later her mother was married to Charles Rodenbaugh. Her mother died when she was nine years old and she lived for a while with an aunt. Then her step-father remarried and she lived again at home.
In 1846, when she was fifteen, she came with her step-parents to Dallas county, Iowa, where they lived on a farm near Adel, until she was married to Miller R. Tidrick, July 16, 1862. Seven children were born to them: George, the youngest, died in infancy; the others are: Charles A., who died in 1908; Mrs. Jessie Terrill, who died in 1919; Mrs. Elsie Hays and Harry Tidrick of Winterset; Fred M. Tidrick of Denver, Colorado, and Mrs. Jennie Moore of Dayton, Ohio.
Mr. Tidrick passed away in 1914 and since then she has lived in the old home with her daughter, Mrs. S. A. Hays, and family. She accepted Christ at an early age and she and Mr. Tidrick united with the Presbyterian church in Winterset shortly after their marriage, where she has been for more than sixty years, an active and faithful member, attending regularly up until two weeks before her death, although for a number of years unable to hear but little of the service.
She passed away after a brief illness, on May 29, 1928, at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 7 days. She leaves beside her children, 25 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
Few lives have been so full of life and living. In her earlier years no one contributed more to the social life of the community or more of love and helpfulness to those who were sick or in distress. In the later years, she continued her cheerfulness and love for others and retained her interest in every one about her. She lived and loved till the end.
Rev. Paul Fowler conducted the funeral service in her home, Saturday afternoon, June 2, and interment was in the Winterset cemetery.
