Mrs. Cecil Letz died Saturday, March 17th, at her home, after a short illness of pneumonia. The news of her death was a distinct shock to her many friends and acquaintances, since she had only been ill since Thursday afternoon. She dismissed her school at the Baker school, west of Peru, Thursday afternoon, because she was taking down with the flu and pneumonia developed Saturday and caused her death.
"Mabel" as she was familiarly known by her friends, was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Rollstin, and was born and raised in this county. She was graduated from the Winterset high school in 1923, and since that time has been teaching in the rural schools. She was married to Mr. Letz December 17, 1927, and they had gone to housekeeping on North Sixth avenue, the first of March, but she had planned to complete her year's school work.
Mrs. Letz, at the time of her death, was a member of the Church of Christ in Winterset, and previously had been an active worker in the New Hope church at Ord. Rev. F. Clare McCallon conducted the funeral services Monday, March 19th, at the Church of Christ, and burial was made in the local cemetery. The deceased is survived by her parents, her husband, two grandmothers, Mrs. Henry Mill of Winterset, and Mrs. Libby Haynes of Hanley, and a number of other relatives.

Had Been Ill Only a Few Days – Funeral Services Held Monday at Church of Christ
The death of Mrs. Cecil Letz occurred Saturday night at her home in the north part of Winterset after a two day illness from pneumonia following influenza.
Mrs. Letz was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Rollstin of Lincoln Township and was 23 years old. She was a graduate of the Winterset High school with the class of 1923 and had spent her entire life here. She was married December 17, 1927 at Bethany, Missouri, to Cecil A. Letz. She was the instructor at the Harwood school and had planned to finish the year’s work there. March first, Mr. and Mrs. Letz had moved to the house on N. Sixth Avenue, where her death occurred.
She is survived by her husband, her parents, and two grandmothers, Mrs. Henry Hill of Winterset and Mrs. Libby Haynes of Hanley, besides other relatives. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Church of Christ with the Rev. F. C. McCallon preaching the service and burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
