Page 1Death of Mrs. W. D. Patterson
Mrs. W. D. Patterson, a life-long resident of Madison county, died at her home on West Green street, Wednesday morning, November 26, at the age of sixty-four years. Death came following an illness of four months. She first became ill in the summer, and it was thought that an operation improved her condition. She became worse this fall, and became unconscious Sunday, passing away about 7 o'clock yesterday morning.
Mrs. Patterson was Clyde Bird, daughter of the late Butler and Mary Bird, of Patterson. She was raised in that neighborhood, and was married in 1891 to Mr. Patterson. They lived in Lee township until 1901, when they moved to their farm in Scott township. Several years ago they moved to Winterset.
Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her loss, a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Wiley, a son, Bradley Patterson, five grandchildren, Virginia, Phillip and William Patterson, and Priscilla and Clyde Bird Wiley, one sister, Mrs. Jessie Bird Miles, a brother, Graham Bird, of Des Moines, besides other relatives and friends. Two sisters have preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 30th, from the Church of Christ, at 2 o'clock by the Rev. F. Clare McCallon. Interment will be in the Winterset cemetery.
