Thursday, March 21, 1991Funeral services for Josephine E. Golightly were held Monday, March 11, at the United Methodist Church in Earlham. Mrs. Golightly died Saturday, March 9, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset of a heart ailment at the age of 80.
Officiating at the service was Rev. Nova Wells. Burial was at the Earlham Cemetery.
Born in Albia on Oct. 28, 1910, she was the daughter of Samuel and Janie (Ovans) Shaw. She was united in marriage to Albert E. Golightly on June 10, 1030 at Fairview Church in Madison County.
She lived in Earlham most of her life and was an Earlham postal clerk, retiring in 1981 after working there for over 20 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Earlham, Rebekah Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Golightly was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers.
Survivors include a son, Wilbur of Dexter; two daughters, Ruby Brandow of Ankeny and Sharon Steenrod of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Earlham United Methodist Church or othe Earlham Rescue Unit.
