OBITUARY OF MRS. LYLE E. FITCH BARNETT

Lyle Elizabeth Fitch was born at Waucoma, Iowa, the oldest daughter of James E. and Mary Fitch. She grew to girlhood in that town and attended public school there, she was graduated from the Waucoma High School. At an early age her health became poor and it continued for the greater part of her life. After completion of her high school at Waucoma she was graduated from Business College and later attended Upper Iowa University at Fayette.

After the death of her mother she and her father came to West Union and made their home with her younger sister Mrs. C. W. Whitney. She lived there until her marriage in January of 1935 to Stuart H. Barnett of Waterloo. She and her husband resided in Waterloo and Cedar Falls until his untimely passing in October of 1942. After his death she returned to West Union, at the time in failing health, and again resided with her sister and family.

In 1946 she moved with the family to Earlham, Iowa, where she was living at the time of her death.

She is survived only by her sister, Mrs. Lola M. Whitney of Earlham, Iowa, one nephew Craig Whitney, Drake University Law Student, two grand neices, Constance and Susan Whitney.

Although her life was one of suffering and sickness from girlhood she still maintained a smiling countenance and a extra good disposition up to the last moment of her life.

Her younger sister, who was like a mother to her, was constanly at her side in all the years of sickness and no mother could have tendered more gentle care to one who was weak than she did.

She was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church, West Union Standard Chapter 186, O. E. S. Waucoma, Iowa.
